Frequently Asked Questions about picture framing
There's lots of choice in frame widths, materials and finishes. Widths range from a few mm to over 10cm, and generally, the larger the picture the wider the frame should be, to look in proportion and to hold the glass securely. The frame material is often hidden by the finish, but natural wood frames can look really warm. Finish ranges from elaborate gold-leaf covered moulding to simple matt black. We do a lot of hand-painted framing which allows us to get the colour just right to complement the picture. Choosing from all this variety isn't easy, even with a lot of samples to look at, but remember that the frame must work with the picture, helping it show its best qualities.
